Clean Air Festival in Kiener Plaza

On Tuesday, May 20, the St. Louis Regional Clean Air Partnership will host its 5th annual Clean Air Festival at Kiener Plaza in Downtown St. Louis from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The event will mark the official start of air quality forecasting for the summer season and provide individuals with a wealth of information on how they can go green and do their share for cleaner air year-round.

With poor air quality often incorrectly categorized as a strictly summertime concern, the Clean Air Festival is designed to educate individuals on the year-round health effects of poor air quality and encourage them to do what they can at home, at work and on the road to help clear the air.

This year, the event will also demonstrate how simple the simple steps we may be taking  to “go green” in our daily lives, such as walking or biking instead of driving, choosing to recycle and turning off appliances that aren’t in use, can reduce harmful emissions that lead to poor air quality and improve the health of residents across the region.

The festival will give attendees the chance to get information on alternative commuting options such as carpooling and mass transit, and also provide other ideas on how area residents can go green and begin doing their share for cleaner air. Exhibitors will include the American Lung Association of the Central States/St. Louis Regional Clean Air Partnership, the Asthma & Allergy Foundation-St. Louis Chapter, Citizens for Modern Transit, Earthways Center, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Local Harvest Grocery, Madison County Transit, Metro, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Missouri Department of Transportation, RideFinders, the St. Louis Regional Clean Cities Program, SuiteCommute, Trailnet, the U.S. Green Builders Council, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

There will also be live music, complimentary Ted Drewes frozen custard, and a variety of giveaways. Best of all, the entire event is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
