ST. LOUIS REGIONAL CLEAN AIR PARTNERSHIP DEBUTS NEW WEBSITE

Revamped site offers easier navigation and an array of features designed to help area residents and businesses do their share for cleaner air

ST. LOUIS, MO., June 14, 2010... With the air quality forecasting season in full-swing, the St. Louis Regional Clean Air Partnership (The Partnership) has launched a newly revamped website at www.cleanair-stlouis.com. The comprehensive, easy-to-navigate website features a fresh new look and offers a wealth of information designed to help area residents and businesses learn how they can get involved in improving the region’s air quality.

On the website’s homepage, visitors can find a unique revolving box featuring simple, everyday tips on lifestyle changes that individuals can take to help clear the air. Also featured on the homepage is the daily air quality forecast and a link to descriptions of the four air quality categories – red, orange, yellow and green – to help visitors better understand what each forecast means. Links to The Partnership’s Facebook and Twitter pages and links to sign up for air quality forecast alerts via e-mail can also be found on the homepage, along with a link to other websites with fun air quality games and activities for kids.

More helpful information is included under the site’s About Air Pollution tab. This section features a variety of air quality facts and provides information on both ozone pollution and the health concerns associated with it. Visitors to this section of the site can also learn about the air quality index and how the daily air quality forecast is determined.

The Air Quality Tips section of the site provides area citizens and employers with access to dozens of simple tips designed to help area citizens and employers do their share for cleaner air and protect the lung health of residents in the St. Louis region.

“By revamping our website, our goal was to provide members of the St. Louis community with a convenient place where they can learn more about air pollution, gain a greater awareness of the air quality issues facing our region and also gain a greater understanding of how they can play a part in helping to improve our air quality,” said Susannah Fuchs, Senior Director of Environmental Health for the American Lung Association of the Central States and spokesperson for The Partnership. “Our new site definitely accomplishes all of these goals, and we encourage individuals to log on today and see all the site has to offer.”

Other features on the site include a Success Stories section, where The Partnership highlights individuals in the St. Louis area who are doing their part, both at home and at work, to help clear  the air. Visitors to the site can also explore the Downloads, Links, News/Press and About Us areas of the site, which offer links to the websites of other clean air partners, a list of document downloads with information concerning air quality and an assortment of news releases that highlight the activities and accomplishments of The Partnership. Additional information about the background of The Partnership is also included.
