Clean Air Saint Louis is a collaboration of the City of St. Louis, American Lung Association, Grace Hill Settlement House, RCGA, and the Partnership for Downtown St. Louis to improve health and air quality in the St. Louis region. The current focus of Clean Air Saint Louis is a No Idling initiative aimed at reducing vehicle emissions. The pollutants in emissions have been linked to cancer, asthma, stroke, heart attack, and reduced learning capacity in children. Pollution from vehicles results in reduced agricultural production, harm to regional flora and fauna and damage to cultural assets such as buildings and sculptures. Clean Air Saint Louis is encouraging drivers to shut off their vehicle engines when not in use in order to protect public health and the economic and social wellbeing of our community.
