ST.
LOUIS, MO., OCTOBER 15, 2002 . . . Incorporating alternative
modes of transportation into the daily work commute will
now be much easier for one Belleville-area resident, thanks
to KMOV Channel 4, an active member of the St. Louis Regional
Clean Air Partnership (The Partnership). KMOV Channel
4, recently awarded Skip Shumway of Belleville, Ill.,
with the 2nd Annual Green Day Giveaway Grand Prize. This
prize package featured a new ultra-low emissions 2002
Chrysler PT Cruiser with a seven year/100,000 mile warranty,
a hybrid bike along with a helmet and bike rack courtesy
of the Partnership, and a year’s worth of MetroLink
and MetroBus passes from Bi-State Development Agency,
along with one of the daily prize packages that were given
to a lucky resident each forecasted green day throughout
the summer.
The
Green Day Giveaway promotion ran from July 1 through September
28, 2002. Each time Kent Ehrhardt, Chief Meteorologist
of KMOV Channel 4, forecasted a “green” air
quality day, area residents had the opportunity to register
online at KMOV’s web site, www.KMOV.com, or by mailing
a postcard to KMOV to win daily prize giveaways. At the
conclusion of the season, KMOV Channel 4 did a random
drawing from the more than 25,000 cumulative entries received
to determine the lucky Green Day Giveaway Grand Prize
winner.
The
St. Louis Regional Clean Air Partnership was formed in
1995 to increase the awareness of regional air quality
and to reduce air pollution emissions. For more information
on air quality forecasting, contact the American Lung
Association of Eastern MO at 1-800-LUNG-USA or visit www.cleanair-stlouis.com.
